Mount Annan Swimmers Perform at Australian All Age Championships

Article from Camden-Narellan Advertiser, By Martin Walsh.
MOUNT Annan Swimming Club’s Brittany Stoker and Karlee Franek have returned with a wealth of experience from the 2015 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre recently.
Brittany, 16, from Camden, competed in the under-16 girls 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
The Camden swimmer’s best result was coming seventh in the 100m backstroke with a personal best time and is now ranked in the top 10 fastest girls nationwide for the age group.
‘‘Swimming, along with the other sports that I do, is very tough mentally and physically that requires a lot of dedication and training and can sometimes be disappointing to not get the results that you work every day for,’’ Brittany said.
‘‘I was very proud of my results this year as I had achieved my goal for the season l and was rewarded for all of my hard training.’’
Harrington Park’s Karlee, 17, came 12th in the under-17’s 200m breastroke.
‘‘At this level your competing against the best age group swimmers in Australia,’’ the Elderslie High School student said.
‘‘[I’m] fairly happy with result considering the preparation that I had.’’
Both swimmers reserved praise for their swim club as positive influences in their development.
‘‘Mount Annan Swimming Club has a positive environment [and] this enables me to compete at my best as I know I have support,’’ Karlee said.
‘‘My team mates and my coaches make it so much easier to swim kilometres in the pool and stay focused with the positive attitudes that they bring to the club,’’ Brittany added.
